The only clue as to the news' veracity was an enigmatic image posted on the official Type O Negative web site: an illustrated tombstone that read read 'Peter Steele, 1962-2005'.

He was 6'8", had black hair past his shoulders, and crooned about werewolves and lost loves in a rich baritone. Screw 'em. Peter wasn't a Nazi, Type O as a band weren't Nazis and if they want to believe a lie then that's on them. At most it's reasonable to say that Peter held right-leaning to moderate conservative views, and sure there's some darkly humorous and at times edgy material on Carnivore and select Type O songs but to label him a Nazi is just foolish.
